Who is this for & what problem does it solve?

Ideal for: Hobbyists and professionals who need stronger, more heat-resistant prints than PLA - outdoor brackets, tool holders, camera mounts, mechanical parts, or anything left in a car or near a window.
Problem solved: PLA deforms above 60C and degrades in moisture. Nexaforge PETG handles temperatures up to 80C, resists moisture and mild chemicals, and delivers layer bonding 30-40% stronger than standard PLA - without the difficulty of ABS.
Best used with: Any FDM printer (230-250C hotend, 70-90C bed). No enclosure needed. Ideal upgrade from PLA for functional parts.

Frequently Asked Questions - PETG Filament

Will PETG clog, string badly, or warp?

PETG is more prone to stringing than PLA - this is normal and manageable with correct settings. Key adjustments: reduce print speed to 40-60mm/s, set retraction to 1-2mm (direct drive) or 6-7mm (Bowden), and keep cooling fan at 30-50% (too much cooling causes layer delamination). Nexaforge PETG is vacuum-sealed to prevent moisture, which is the primary cause of excess stringing and bubbling.

Is it compatible with my printer? Does it need an all-metal hotend?

PETG prints at 230-250C - above the safe limit for PTFE-lined hotends on extended prints. We recommend an all-metal hotend (e.g., Bambu Lab, Prusa MK4, Creality Spider) for long PETG sessions. Short prints (<2 hours) on standard PTFE hotends are generally fine. No enclosure required. Works with Bambu AMS.

How heat-resistant is it? Will it deform in a hot car?

Nexaforge PETG has a heat deflection temperature (HDT) of approximately 75-80C under 0.45MPa load. A car interior in summer can reach 60-80C - PETG sits right at the edge for thin-walled parts. For car mounts, exterior brackets, or anything exposed to sustained direct sunlight, we recommend our PA6 Nylon (HDT 180C+) instead.

Is it stronger than PLA? Will it crack under stress?

PETG tensile strength: ~50MPa (similar to PLA) but with 30-40% better impact resistance and significantly better layer bonding - parts are less likely to split along layer lines under lateral stress. It is tougher and more ductile than PLA, meaning it bends before it breaks. Suitable for tool holders, enclosures, functional brackets, and outdoor fixtures.

What are the recommended print settings?

Nozzle: 230-250C | Bed: 70-90C (PEI or glass + light hairspray) | Speed: 40-60mm/s | Cooling fan: 30-50% | Retraction: 1-2mm direct drive / 6-7mm Bowden | First layer: slightly higher than PLA to prevent elephant foot.

Is PETG safe to print indoors? Does it smell?

PETG emits low VOCs and is generally considered safe for indoor printing with basic ventilation. It produces minimal odor - less than ABS, slightly more than PLA. An air purifier with a HEPA + activated carbon filter is recommended for enclosed spaces or prolonged print sessions.

What if my print fails? Is it the filament or my settings?

PETG is more settings-sensitive than PLA - most failures (stringing, delamination, bed adhesion) are solved by dialing in temperature and retraction. Email support@nexaforge.com with a photo and slicer profile. We respond within 24 hours. Confirmed defective filament is replaced at no cost.
